Who Cares?

The Vinogram

The vinogram below illustrates the interconnected relationships within our church community, where each member is both a disciple and a care giver. This unique approach to discipleship emphasizes the importance of not only being poured into and growing in faith, but also pouring into and caring for others in the same way. As each individual connects with others in the church, they are not only receiving support and guidance, but also actively participating in the growth and well-being of their fellow members. This mutual investment and care creates a strong and supportive community where everyone is valued and encouraged on their journey of faith.

In this regard we have 4 elder-led spiritual units (or groups) in which the men and woman of the church are cared for spiritually. These units are:

The Ox Unit (led by Dalton & Chezney Yule)
The Man Unit (led by Lorenzo & Joanne Delaurentis)

Meet the Elders

The Butler Family

The Delaurentis Family

Names: Lorenzo and Joanne

Marriage: Happily married for 21 years

Children: Evangelyn (19), Bethany (17), Isaiah (13), Reign (8)

Fun facts: Lorenzo is a DJ and inventor. He runs his own business to make a living. He is a gifted evangelist and shepherd of the flock of God. Joanne is a qualified journalist and economic researcher. She is a homeschool mom and business administrator. She loves to worship the Lord and teach the people of God. They live on a small homestead South of Jhb.

Mission: They both have a passion for marriage and family and have committed their lives to building up the Bride of Christ.

Bible verse: "All creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed." Romans 8:19

"The people who know their God will be strong and do mighty exploits." Daniel 11:32

The Krige Family

Names: Sean and Dannean

Marriage: Happily married for 17 years

Children: Tristan (13), Connor (11), Izzy (8)

Fun facts: Sean loves kids, dogs, hiking, camping, running, tennis, farming, curry, red wine, startups, and the Springbucks. But, he says, none of these come close to his love for his wife. Dannean is an avid puzzle builder and book reader. She is a teacher by love and profession and currently homeschools their 3 children.

Mission: 'Discipleship Community' are two words that best sum up what Sean is most passionate about building. His spiritual gifts of leadership, admin and faith provide the grace he needs to occupy the office of an elder - which is a great honour and calling in his life. Dannean's passion for supporting vulnerable women and children have led her naturally into a leadership role in Children of the Way as well as an active administrative and leadership role in Women of the Way.

The Yule Family

Names: Dalton and Chezney

Marriage: Happily married for 9 years

Children: One daughter, Peyton, who is 4 years old

Fun facts: Dalton ran the comrade twice. Chezney is an only child. This is their first time, stepping out in ministry, by God's grace and guidance.

Mission: We don't GO to church; we ARE the church

Bible verse: "We live knowing we are chosen by God for His glory." 1 Peter 2:9

Carleen Bond

Name: Carleen

Wife: Widow of beloved Roderick who died in 2016. They were married for 33 years.

Children: Jason (38) and Ruari (35)

Fun facts: She loves traveling and meeting new people and the Lord has blessed Carleen with a business that allows her to do just that. Her personal motto is: "I wasn't born to be ordinary, I was born to be awesome."

Mission: She completed her BMin at Christian Family Church (CFC) in Johannesburg in 2012 and helped start CFC Brakpan as well as Church of the South. She is a qualified Transformation Prayer Ministry (TPM ) counselor. Carleen believes that the Lord has called her to love His people and to shepherd them.

Bible verse: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Marvellous Machoni

Name: Marvellous

Wife: Loreta

Marriage: Happily married for 5 years

Children: Marvelous (9) and Blessing (5)

Fun facts: One of Marvellous' hidden talents is negotiating with others, which he believes is what makes him a good soul winner.

Mission: He spends a lot of time studying his Bible and reading Christian books which helps him grow spiritually and also to strengthen others in faith.

Bible verse: "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7

Monique Swart

Name: Monique

Wife: Juan

Marriage: Married for 11 wonderful years

Children: Josh (7)

Fun facts: Monique loves to hike, spend time with her family and recently started running (very slowly). She also loves watching a good foreign film - those kinds with the subtitles.

Mission: Since Monique was a young girl she has been passionate about advancing the kingdom and working for the Lord. She has held several leadership positions at the different churches where she served. She also has her honours degree in Pastoral Psychology and was on the counseling team at Bryanston Methodist Church and Alberton Lewensentrum. Currently Monique is a Life Team leader at People of the Way, focusing on equiping (and being equipped) in the areas of healing, deliverance and evangelism. She also serves on the children's ministry team and leads intercession.
