Overcoming in our homes (fruitful marriages / parenting / families / friends)
God designed and instituted marriage and the family, as the cornerstone of fruitful human existence. It is the place we find our most important God given roles, responsibilities and identities. It is also arguably our single most important spiritual battleground, and critical to winning all other battles.
Overcoming in our church fellowship (fruitful Sunday & discipleship meetings)
Our church family follows on from our natural family. It is called our spiritual home and filled with brothers and sisters in the Lord. It is within this family that we find our fellow disciples, as well as those we fellowship with, and hopefully become friends with too. This is the gathering of the saints, and a precious thing in the eyes of the Lord.
Overcoming in our work, rest & provision (bearing fruit and being prepared)
In modern western world societies, work, in its fallen state, has arguably had one of the most detrimental impacts on human spirituality and Christianity. That is, the purpose of work now far exceeds that of provision and dignity, as exemplified by the rat race, and the near extinction of the Sabbath. It must never be so amongst those who work for God!
Overcoming for our neighbours and the needs of our communities and cities (by fruitful service and acts of kindness)
Jesus carried the Father's heart over from Old Testament requirements of caring for the foreigner, orphan and widow, to that of caring for and loving both our enemy and neighbour. If we are born of God, then we love as God loves.
