As Women of the Way, our mission is to BELONG, BUILD, BRING and BATTLE. Our role as women, in The People of The Way church, is directly linked to our role as women in any church body that belongs to Jesus. We believe that if we are growing in these areas then we are a healthy church. It therefore goes to say that if, as women, we are growing in these areas, then we are healthy women.
Jesus' heart and passion for women are evident throughout his ministry and throughout the Bible. He broke societal norms by engaging with women, treating them with dignity and respect. Jesus valued women as equals, empowering them to learn and teach alongside him. He affirmed their worth and importance, acknowledging their contributions and inviting them into his Kingdom without reservation. As Women of The Way, we celebrate the women who walked alongside Jesus and continue to follow in their footsteps as women of faith, all the while desiring to become more and more like Jesus in every way.
Women of the Way meet up regularly, in small groups, to disciple, learn, share and grow together. We currently also meet up, as a big group, every second month for a larger joint meeting. During these meetings we share on topics that are chosen by the women themselves; topics that speak to the heart, soul and spirit. Some of the topic we covered in 2024 include: our role as women in church, spiritual warefare and grief.
Grief talk: In August, Christie Mitchell shared on the Topic of GRIEF with the Women of the Way. Christie is a compassionate and dedicated social worker who has spent almost a decade at Stepping Stone Hospice in Alberton, providing emotional and psychosocial support to dying patients and their families. Born and raised in America, her 17-year journey in South Africa has only deepened her passion for caring for the most vulnerable.
As part of our mission to BRING, we collected goodies throughout the month of August for a NPO called The Grace Factory . The Grace Factory brings hope to new mothers and babies, by providing them with much needed essentials such as clothing, toiletries, nappies, etc.
Nappies, wipes, creams and beautifully hand crocheted / knitted beanies, booties, blankets and teddy bears were donated by our ladies.
